Welcome to the beta site of the Green Parking Council Green Garage Certification Program, the collaboratively-developed campaign celebrating sustainability in the parking industry and challenging us to push our achievements even further.
A concrete expression of the GPC operating principal that “no one is as smart as everyone,” this site extends an extraordinary two-year development and drafting effort by nearly 100 volunteers and builds upon a review by Green Parking Council Board and Advisory Board members this past summer.
This website opens up the sustainability measures framework to a “family and friends” review in the next step of a transparent, open-source process that deepens and strengthens the Green Garage Certification Program.
To review and comment on drafts of any of the 50 sustainability measures in the Green Garage Certification Program, select the Management, Programs or Technology and Structure Design tab in the menu bar and select a specific sustainability measure from the drop down menu. Each measure page allows you to (a) read the measure draft and (b) add your comments at the bottom. We appreciate your time and your thoughts. (If you prefer, you may download a full copy of 133-page Certification draft and email us your comments.) Please note that comments are being incorporated on a rolling basis and updated versions can be identified by their version numbers.
While the beta process will open to full public view and comment starting in January, 2013, only GPC Partner facilities will be eligible for participation in the Green Garage Certification program during the beta phase. Operators and owners interested in getting “first to market” with certification – or product vendors interested in gifting this opportunity - are encouraged to email us about GPC’s Partnership Program.
